What might be the typical rpm of a cordless drill motor?

Or what is the typical gear ratio?

Some single speed spin up to about 700 rpm at the chuck.
Dual speed usually go up to about 400 and 1400 rpm at the chuck.

Thanks.

I am calculating it at somewhere around 9000 rpm, but I'm hoping that's
not true.

It's likely to be something like that, at least three or four thousand RPM
unloaded. All hand held drills are geared down between 5:1 and 10:1, some
even more.

I think you'll find it to be more like
no more than 400 on torque mode and maybe
900 or so on speed mode at the chuck..

There is no such as typical speed. dremmel motors runs over 10krpm why not it function is for sanding mostly. If you got steel to dril 10krpm will not do it you will ruin the drill bit and get nowhere. for steel you need low rpm and lot of pressure on it . so basicaly every tool has its function to do the work properly.
