I've been having a rash of RJ-31X failures...either that or I'm losing
my mind. I've been installing RJ-31X jacks for about 15 years, and
rarely had a problem. Lately, it seems as if the internal jumper, or
whatever it's called, is stuck in the disconnect mode. In other words,
when you plug into the jack, the connection is no longer made in the
jack, it's made in the panel. When you unplug, the RJ-31X remakes the
connection in the jack. It seems that quite often lately, sometimes
more than once on the same job, the jack gets stuck in the
disconnected mode, as if the panel were still plugged in, and there is
no connection to the other pins for the house phones.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it just bad jacks?
