Not that anyone probably cares but after 20+ years of providing service and
technical support to store staff and customers alike the DSE Victorian
Service Centre has closed its doors forever as of Friday the 28th of May.

It's good to see that all service has been stamped out
completely in Dickies. I remember my first taste of their
"service" I'd built a kit HF transceiver which didn't work
and sent it back with the $20 "Sorry Dick it doesn't work"
voucher. They held it hostage for a $400 repair fee for
repairs. Later on I see there were quite a few "erratum"
for that particular kit to actually get it to work properly.

I doubt many ever had their early versions of the kit
working with all the substitutions and arse about coil winding
diagrams.

I recall many years ago as a trainee giving a sorry-arsed piece of crap to
our training officer as a going-away present, thoughtfully picked out to
take the piss quite nicely. Anyway, we modified one of those kit cards so it
read "Sorry my Dick doesn't work....". Puerile, but jolly good fun! :)

The only service centre left now is that based in Chullora, NSW and one in
Western Australia.

All repairs from Vic, SA and Tas now go to NSW.

Not sure about your kit, that was way before my time, however we (in Vic
Service) tried to help people as best we could. I think in most cases we
went the extra mile whereas I don't see that being the case with the new
arrangements.....
