G'Day All, I'm interested in purchasing a used oscilloscope for
general consumer electronics repairs (all types). Therefore, I would
greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the minimum specifications
needed for the unit. Also, any specifics on what to avoid would be
helpful. Thanks in advance.

Buy it on eBay and you can get a 100 MHz dual trace delayed sweep scope for
< $100 if you are patient. Why buy less specs to save a couple of bucks?

Been looking at this.Anybody have one??

I would always like to have an analog scope around or at least a 10 or 12 bit
vertical resolution scope. The Hamegs still have both digital and analog in one scope.
I was trying to get info on the above scope for a friend.

Both amateur radio swap meets (hamfests) and Ebay can be of much
help along these lines.

For general use, as you state, I would suggest a Tektronix 460 or
470 series for a portable/bench combo, or a Tektronix 7603 for bench
alone.

If you go after a 7603, you will also need a 7B53 time base module,
and a 7A26 vertical module (both readily available).

All the above are well within the $75-$250 range, depending on
vintage, features, and condition.

Happy hunting.

Go for a a Tektronix 465 or a 475, you'll get these for a reasonable
price. And these scope will serve you well.
