What part of the word "perhaps" do you not understand, you cro
magnon, twit?

---
Well, it looks like you need an English lesson. I'll try to dumb it
down so you can understand it, but if you're still in the dark after
you read it post back and I'll dumb it down some more.

Once again, here's the salient post:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
"
Could anybody please enlighten me why is the resistance value given in
watts instead of ohms?

http://www.brakingresistor.com/metal.htm

Thanks! :)

Perhaps because such resistors re always the same value in Ohms, and
the only requisite for a user to select one by is dissipation ability.
"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, from that post, let's extract the two sentences in the exchange and
look at them rather more critically:

From L'A we have:

"Could anybody please enlighten me why is the resistance value given in
watts instead of ohms?"

And from you:

"Perhaps because such resistors are always the same value in Ohms, and
the only requisite for a user to select one by is dissipation ability."

I added the 'a' to the 're' to fix the typo you made. It makes the
sentence easier to understand, unless you specifically meant 're' for
some reason or other...

Now, notice that you did not contest her belief that the resistance was
given in watts, but rather reinforced her belief by offering one of
several reasons (as indicated by the 'perhaps') why her belief was
valid. Here... I'll give you an example of a similar exchange which,
hopefully, you'll have little trouble in understanding.

Q. "Could anybody please enlighten me as to why DarkMatter appears to be
so stupid?"

A1. "Perhaps because he is."

A2. "Perhaps because he can't help it."

A3. "Perhaps it's because it's a game he's playing."

Notice in all three of the answers that no refutation of your appearing
to be stupid is given, only reasons agreeing with the premise and
offering reasons for its substantiation.
**** you. You are wrong.

A4. "Because he is." seems to sum it up pretty well and removes the
possible indecision introduced by the 'Perhaps'.

Since the lower case omega is usually taken to mean 2*pi*f (where 'pi'
stands for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter,
(about 3.14, FYI) 'f' stands for frequency in Hertz, and Hertz stands
for cycles per second) it stands to reason that the lower case 'w'
(which you have flawlessly pointed out resembles a lower case omega)
would stand for the lower case omega. Now, since there is an uppercase
omega and also an uppercase 'W' it also stands to reason that the upper
case omega would be represented by the upper case 'W', a correspondence
between the cases you seem unable to grasp.

Having trouble with your symbols, and your simple brain assuming
that things like this "stand to reason"?

You're a fucking idiot, boy.

Perhaps a trip to Microsft
Word will convince you. If you click on "insert" and then click on
'symbol' you will be presented with a table of symbols. When the table
appears press 'w' on your keyboard and you will see a lowercase omega
highlighted. Next, hold down the shift key and press 'w' at the same
time (That's how you generate an uppercase 'W'.) and voila! the
highlighted symbol will magically change to an uppecase omega, the
symbol we are so familiar with which bears the name of Georg Simon
Ohmega, the inventor of the resistor.

You don't get it. The OMEGA SYMBOL represents the omega symbol.

That's it. NO OTHER SYMBOL represents omega, dipshit.

The fact that it falls in at the location of the "W" on your
keyboard has nothing to do with it.

It DOES have something to do with that page, however.

Did you bother to look at the source for that page?

You're an idiot. I have used the "Symbol" character set long before
you had your first 286, dipshit.

His name was Ohm. Not Ohmega, you fucking retard.

Now, am I supposed to go on a tirade like you did for the last three
days, because you are so fucking stupid that you don't even know the
guy's name?

Grow the **** up, Chuck, you make me want to UpChuck.

It's evident from the general tone of
the document that it wasn't written by someone with English as a first
language, but they didn't do a bad job at all, and the meaning of the
tables, graphs, and text should be clear to anyone capable of looking at
the thing in context.

Which is why *I* said that you didn't need to spell it out the way
you did, you dumbfuck. That is when your lame ass got all mifft about
it, even though I did compliment you on it.

Take a hike, ya retarded twit.

Congratulations!

I see this exposition is finally starting to make sense to you even
though your grasp of the obvious still leaves a lot to be desired.

You're a fucking retard, boy.

Sorry John. You only score a three on the DimBulb post-o-meter.
IIRC the record is seven, though I've only had a five.

You don't get it. The OMEGA SYMBOL represents the omega symbol.

---
No, the omega symbol _is_ the omega symbol. A 'w' represents it much
like a map of New York is _not_ New York, but represents it.
---
That's it. NO OTHER SYMBOL represents omega, dipshit.

---
Anything can represent anything else, and _any_ symbol can represent
omega, just as omega (or 'R' for that matter) represents resistance. All
that's required is a consensus between the the members of the group
using the symbol as to its meaning. How do you think language evolved
if not for that? Remember, neither the 'R' nor the omega symbol are the
actual resistance, they just represent it and are a convenient way of
not having to always write E/I (more symbols) for ohms (another
symbol). If you want to learn something about symbols get a copy of
"The Miracle Worker" and pay particular attention to what happens to you
when you view the image representing what happens to Helen Keller when
the actress representing her depicts Helen learning that the sign for
water is not the water itself, but something which will allow her to
represent water to others. In other words, she learned that she could
communicate.

I spelled it out the way I did because my answer was directed to
L'Angel, who was obviously having some trouble interpreting the page,
and I wanted to make sure that she understood everything she needed to
in order to get the information she wanted. I'm sure she did, because
she thanked me politely for my effort, which was nice of her. Whether
you approve or disapprove of the way I write is immaterial, since I
don't consider your opinion at all important or, for that matter, of
_any_ consequence.

You are a rude, spoiled child with delusions of adequacy and if you
stopped posting completely I'm sure no one would miss you or your
hateful spew.

"Miffed" is the correct spelling, and a left-handed compliment is not a
compliment.

You'd like that wouldn't you? Just think, you wouldn't have to listen
to me proving to you that you're such a perverted little shit.

I think you're finally starting to get it, so I probably will, for a
while...
