Reset locked out channels on Toshiba TV

My brother-in-law has just acquired a used compact Toshiba TV, not
sure of the model. It currently skips channels 3 and 4 when scrolling
up or down. There is a channel lock function, and when we try to enter
it it asks for a 4 digit password, which we've not been able to
bypass. We've tried uplugging the thing overnight.

The only way currently that we can get to either locked out channel is
through a complex series of steps in the menu where you set which
channels to skip. But setting these 2 channels to *not* be skipped
does not work, once you've exitted the menu.

Also, I'm kind of wondering, both channel 3 and 4 are often used by
cable companies with their set top controller boxes.

Anyway, any tips on how to crack/reset the code, or to regain access
to these channels would be greatly appreciated.

Try code 1048.

If that doesn't work read the manual carefully. My Toshiba implies a 24
hour reset. I would assume the set would have to be plugged in and
turned off for 24 hours but that makes little sense but woouldn't hurt
to try since the clock would have to be running to time 24 hours.
