Hi,
I have this bad bridge rectifier, it's 800v 8A, however the only electronics shop in my area has only upto 1000v 4A.

Is it safe to use this 1000v 4A bridge rectifier to replace the faulty 800v 4A or just find the same type?

Generally you can use any rectifier with higher ratings, but not with lower ratings.
1000 V instead of 800 V is o,.k.
4 A instead of 8 A is not o.k.
1000 V, 8 A would be o.k

However, a not so general answer has to take into account the real use of the rectifier. It may so happen that the full 8 A are not required, One would have to know the details of where and how the rectifier is used to recommend a suitable replacement.

On ther other hand, 800 V, 8 A is not an uncommon type, see e.g. here.

Thank you so much , I'll keep this in mind, I guess I'll have to order it online since it is unavailable here. Thanks for the helpful info
