I'm wanting to operate a 12 V relay from the signal going to a LED. Can
anyone point me in the right direction of a circuit please?
  2. Pick up a copy of "The Art of Electronics" and check out the MOSFET
circuits. You can drive the gate of a p-channel MOSFET from the anode
of the LED without loading the LED drive circuit. The MOSFET can
energize the relay. Make sure you protect the MOSFET by paralleling
the relay coil with a reverse biased diode.
