Rectifier connection question

I recently repaired a failed Motor Control Unit on a Whirlpool clothes washing machine, (free washing machine upgrade, whoo-hoo!) but during the repair I noticed a part of the circuit that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Right after the 120V AC input is a GBU-8J bridge rectifier but instead of the AC being connected to the two center legs with one being the hot and one the neutral, both legs were connected to the same hot line trace of the circuit. What's with that?

That makes a circuit with paralleled rectifiers instead of ´bridge' configuration.

Ahh, gotcha. Certainly didn't pass a very clean signal compared to what I'm used to seeing in the bridge configuration. Checking the signal coming out with my scope showed it wasn't blocking the AC very well. There was still some AC component below the zero line - maybe it was slightly damaged.
