    everything powers up on this home stereo receiver but no sound is coming out. Any suggestions?

    have you tried different inputs ?
    tape, cd etc etc any of them work ?

    Is that an older unit? If you have a meter with ohms and no power connected (batteries or cord). When you take it apart, you may want to take lots of photos in case a brittle wire comes loose. Ohm the speaker for 8, 16, 32 ohms, whatever it says. If this unit has a headphone jack, sometimes they stick open when they get old. Otherwise, its getting more technical (outputs, power supply, etc). Hope this helps.
