Hello Group,

I have a Panasonic ES8066 Linear Shaver with a set of NiMH
batteries that are getting weak. My question is: can I buy exact
replacement batteries to fit in this thing or do I have to buy some
tabbed batteries and solder posts on to them to make it fit in the
odd-ball holders that are in this razor. If someone has the p/n's of
these batteries I'd appreciate it. Regards.

After re-reading my post I realize some things need
clarification. I've opened up this shaver (surprisingly easy
considering it is waterproof, just remove 2 screws, pull on the base
of the shaver and you're in) and found 2 AA size batteries that are
marked NiMH Panasonic. These cells are typical AA except that they
have single contact pins welded on each end. They look like
fluorescent tube pins but maybe a little smaller than one of the pins
on a typical 40 watt fluorescent tube.
It was interesting to see the inductive charging transformer
secondary inside the razor. This shaver has no exterior electrical
connections for the charger, it just sits in its' inductive charging
base. Panasonic does not provide any information on this battery, they
want you to send the shaver to a Panasonic repair facility for battery
replacement. I would love to know what the p/n and source info for
these batteries are. Thanks.

Since they are standard sized AA NiMh any recent 1600mAh and over
consumer should work just as well. Like Li-ion, NiMh can be
charged-discharged at any point.

Overcharging should be avoided for longest cell life but unlike
Li-ion is not dangerous unless at a very high rate which that
shaver charger cannot provide of course. It is unlikely that a
consumer product used the very latest high capacity cells so
1600mAh AAs should ensure no overcharge. If they gets warm it's
overcharging. Better still, can the charge current be measured?
