Re: !!!LOST PASSWORD DVR dedicated micros

I had this same problem. Dedicated Micros will not reset a password
remotely. I do not know if it is possible. I finally did send my DVR
back to VA. It has to be arranged by the dealer who sold it to you.
The good news is that the service is free and they will match your
shipping method for free (if you send it UPS red next day they will
return it UPS red). One thing to consider if you send it back is they
might "service" it. They changed the hard drive on my unit. I was
uncomfortable with images of my home in someones hands at DM so I
changed all the passcodes for all my secure areas.

Pelco is a great company with excellent support but I think that
Dedicated Micros and Kalatel make a better DVR. Pelco does make some
nice exterior cameras. All of our exterior cams are Pelco.

The password reset policy does protect the users if their unit is
stolen. So I gave Dedicated Micros a pass for not easily correcting my
mistake. On my unit the complete turnaround time was three days. We
have redudent systems so loss of protected space wasn't an issue. If
you must have zero interruption in your recording maybe your dealer can
provide you with a temporary advance replacement. It is a shame about
the cabinet though. The installers should have considered acessability
for service. Perhaps the pros on this board have better ideas. Good
luck.
