RCA VR678HF popping

Hello all,

I have an old RCA VR678HF VCR that has served me well up until
recently. When it first powers up there are a range of cable channels
on which it will emit loud rhythmic pops on both audio and video. The
frequency is about one every half second. After several minutes of
warming up the pops go away. It plays prerecorded tapes just fine so
I'm assuming the tuner module has something wrong with it. I've been
told by a local shop that it would cost about $150 to replace the
tuner. Does anyone know where I might lay hands on a used tuner
module for this beast? I'm fairly handy with a soldering iron so if
anyone knows specific components (i.e. capacitors, transistors, etc.)
that I can try replacing to alleviate this problem that would be
helpful as well. Thanks!
