Hey guys

I've got an issue with this chassis, It will power up and then shut
down almost immediately. I hear the HV come up but one of the HV leads
is arcing to ground (at the HV splitter). Then it shuts down. My
question is, will this cause this chassis to go into shutdown or do I
have another problem. I know this will have to be fixed but I wondered
if the set would run in this condition, just to get an idea if there's
another problem. I don't know if I want to put alot of money into this
set.

Any help is appreciated.

Probably need the HV Splitter at least but there are multiple circuits in
these MM Chassis that will cause protective shutdown without having arcing
HV, inclusive of the satellite controller/tuner. Suggest having a shop that
services a fair number of these chassis have a go at yours. Otherwise you
may want to call Thompson and order the Training Manuals, Troubleshooting
Manuals, and Service Manuals before digging in to deeply. They can be rather
time consuming and fairly delicate to repair.

I have the same problem. Its an RCA mm52100 Screen TV 52". Bought in 2002.
I'm trying to repair it or just sell it for $100....let someone else fix
it and make some cash.

Unless you have a fair amount of experience repairing these specific chassis
it may be better to just off it and spend your time elseware. They can be
quite a challenge even with the appropriate tools and service liteature.
