Radionics 6500

Currenty I have a radionics 6500 receiver hooked up to 8 copper phone
lines. I tried to change the POTS lines to a T1 by going into a
channel bank and converting the digital T1 signal into an analog signal
back into the receiver.
Some panels, 7412 and 7212, communicate fine when they use the copper
lines but when the same panel dials the same 800 number into the
receiver through the T1 line I get a communication fail. The panel
dials in and hits the receiver but doesn't communicate, it hangs up
and dials again. I can get the panels to communicate if it dials a
local number but when it dials an 800 number i have the problem.
Has anyone had this problem or been able to solve it?

What do you hear when YOU dial the 800 line going to the receiver? Two
things I'd check, 1 make sure the provider has forwarded the 800 lines to
the local hunt group associated with the T-1 lines (numbers), and 2, when
you say converting it to analog, how are you doing this? I'll assume your
running these lines through a switch, and not just off the channel bank.

I have the T1 going into a channel bank and then into the receiver.
they are pointed to the correct local number, some accounts work and
some dont.

I have the T1 line going into a channel bank, adtran supplied by my
phone vendor, and then into the 6500. some accounts are communicating
fine but some hang up and dial again until they go into com fail.

I'd need more information on your Adtran unit, but it sounds like a
programming issue within the Adtran unit. If it has the capability of
functioning like a voice bridge, and passing caller ID, there may be an
issue with DINNS, or the 800 prefixes not programmed to be open. Have you
tried placing a phone set off the line and listening. Also these...some
accounts failing to communicate, what format are they comming in on? Some of
the older Adtran, and Voice Banks were pretty much plug and play, it's the
newer ones that have a few more features. Are you logging caller id?

It could be distortion introduced by the 800 number to local POTS transfer.
Is there a panel that consistently fails? If it fails on the 800 number,
and not on the POTS number, there is some variation to the Modem waveform
being introduced. I am assuming the problem you are experiencing is in
Modem format and that you do not experience the same problem if you switch
to BFSK.

Can you test the analog dB level at the D6500? For modem format your
minimum at the D6500 should be -32 and the maximum 0. If you listen, does
the signal sound louder when you bypass the 800 number? When the line
picks up, do you hear the receiver send out a handshake? If you do, does
the panel respond? If the panel responds, does the receiver reply?

What revisions are your MPU, LINE, and PRINTER cards running at. Are you
programming with a D5100 or a D5200? What revision are your handlers?
