So i have seen plenty of Nixie clocks about and they look great, but my question is can they display letters? everyone that i have seen only displays numbers?

If so are they specific types ect?

    Thanks

    Sparks.

The Nixies displaying numbers have 10 wires, one behind the other. The one at the back tends to be shielded by the wires in front. You would not be able to get many letters in. I have never seen a letter Nixie. Even the number ones seem to be rare these days.

There are (or were) alpha-numeric nixie tubes that use segments to display numbers and letters. Random example

I have no idea where you could actually obtain them.
