Question - Stereo System w/ Computer Interface

Hi, I picked up at a garage sale a older Mitsubishi Z-40 Interplay
stereo system. It has a 9-pin din connector on the back labeled
"external control" and on the front shows a diagram of the workings of
the system and it shows "Interface For Personal Computer" next to the
systems CPU. Does anybody have any idea what this did or if it was
even developed, or was it just one of those features added on for
possible future development?

I would be interested in playing around with this feature if there is
some software around that works with it. The linear tracking
turntable on it is toast because a key part had broken off and the
tape deck does not work (I had the same problem with a similar vintage
Mitsubishi system I used to own, the take up reel will not take up the
slack and the deck shuts off) but the tuner and AUX functions still
work OK.

thanks
lp

Try contacting Mitsubishi for info on that particular unit.
They might have the manual online or be willing to fax or e-mail it to
you.
On another note I'm currently building a computer that will be the
core of a home studio and sound system.
I picked up a 5.1 thx sound card with mutliple imputs and full
multiplex.
I've got a ton of audio control software.(mixing board, 15 band 2
channel equalizer and cakewalk pro audio.)
I'll just run a small switchboard into the computer and have the
output channels go to a multiamp setup that'll drive my studio
speakers.(also have a switcher setup to channel sound from my home
entertainment system into it as well.)
Anyone here that's done anything like this?
I'd like to exchange info and pick up any tips from those here that've
done so.
