Hello; I am a new member. Before posting, may I ask if there is any connection between the similar (looking) internet forum called "All About Circuits"? Having joined that and asking some honest questions as a person seeking helpful answers, I was treated rudely by people who seemed to proud to admit they did not have answers. Just want to be sure I'm not getting involved again with a branch of the same business since membership joining page and questions were similar.

I look forward to involvement. Thank you;

John Spender

I'm not the site manager but I joined in December and I have not seen any of that. I'm sure that there are people out there that will make rude remarks, but I haven't seen that personally on this site. All my questions and or commentary has been met with, I feel, respect.

Thank you, ADRT, that is reassuring.

I'm not an administrator or moderator either, just a member.

For reference, I believe this is your profile on AAC.

Many members are members on multiple electronics forums, often using the same username and avatar. The forums often use the same site hosting software (XenForo in the present case). This is why they have a similar appearance, but they are not affiliated in any official sense.

People are people wherever you go. The ones voluntarily offering their help on the forums run the gamut but include retired and current engineers, college professors, military instructors, technicians and specialists with world class knowledge and experience. If you're polite and patient and observe the few simple rules and restrictions of each forum, you can avail yourself of this amazing resource.

Hi John and welcome to Electronics Point :)

We try pretty hard, and I think we mostly succeed, to be respectful and helpful to users who are less experienced. I see comments from time to time about how these forums are friendlier and more helpful than other similar forums.

As has been said already, different forum sites may look very similar because there are only a few major forum software systems - XenForo (which Electronics Point uses) and vBulletin and phpBB seem to be the big options.

A big factor in how you will be treated, by any group of strangers I guess, is your attitude, including your openness, and your willingness to try things. If you ask clear questions, tell us the background to your requirements, tell us what you've tried or considered and what research (i.e. Googling) you've already done, you will show us that you're prepared to make an effort yourself, and that it will be worth our while to try to help you.

So welcome to our (mostly) happy little community here :)

Yep I second that Kris. I have tried many other forums and I always end up coming back here. This is the only forum I use now, even when it's quiet I don't bother with any others. You will get heated discussions from time to time, these are good and bring in knowledge from all parties. The moderators keep a close eye on this sort of thing and will respond accordingly if they see fit. So enjoy it here and I hope you learn while your here.

Oh and welcome to EP :)

If you do not like what I write, just ignore me, I get very grouchy on times. If someone says you are wrong, find out why and take it in good part.

Everyone I have dealt with here has been most considerate and helpful and the knowledge base is exceptionally good. I trust you will have a happy time.

Hi John,
I am also a member over at AAC, They have rules over there about subjects that cannot be discussed. They often become a bit over zealous when enforcing those rules.
