PT169PGA: Weird Picture Problem

What would be the problem with a RCA PT169PGA RPTV with this symptom: The
audio is fine but the picture is in the shape of a diamond with the corners
rounded off and there are red, blue, green bands around the perimeter of the
picture. Also the convergence is way out of whack. So much that when I use
the OSD I can see two images of the text. One image in green and the other
image in blue??????

Out of place mirror, broken pincushion circuit (pulse to the
convergence bad), broken convergence circuitry or convergence power
supply problems, main b+ voltage way out of whack.

May want to do a bit of true diagnostics and post your results. Major fault
has been the Pincushion Capacitor and Diode located near the Horiz Output.
The little blue Pincushion Cap will appear slightly swelled in appearance
and the diode will be shorted. 200149, 164589 should be the original P/N.
This device should use a Mylar Mirror and unless someone has physically
punched, torn, or cut the mirror it will not be causing the mentioned fault.
Other very common thing since these sets are getting older is the
Convergence Power Supply Assembly, mounted on the apron behind the CRT
Mounting Bracket. Easy to diagnose, just unplug the flippin thing and see if
the display changes. If not then order the replacement PCB.
