Proximity Sensor

Trying to protect an exterior generator housing that has too many access
doors to wire easily. Does anyone know if a proximity sensor would work,
who manufactures them and their operating temperature range?

I worked for the National Grid and ADT had the contract to protect all the
transmission, generating stations etc. I noticed thet they just used normal
CK dualteks. Some of the sensors were within 6 ft of 220kv busbars. These
busbars could arc if anything came within 4 ft of them but it didn't seem to
affect the sensors.
