Hi!

I got a color wheel from an old projector, and I would like to see it turning. It has 4 wires, but I have no idea which to connect. Any suggestion how to know to which wires I apply power?

thanks!

This is most likely a Brushless DC motor, which require special circuitry to handle commutation, you cannot simply 'apply power' and expect it to run..

thanks for the info. I am already in the look for how to drive this motor with an arduino.

Potentially a 4-wire stepper too. Can you measure the resistance between each connection?

1 - 2 = 5.6Ω

1 - 3 = 5.6Ω

1 - 4 = 3Ω

2 - 3 = 5.5Ω

2 - 4 = 2.9Ω

3 - 4 = 2.9Ω
