Over the years smiley faces have gone from still-frame ASCII and graphic images to animated features. But what if you could program the animation by causing a single frame to flip through a number of sequences that repeat once reaching their end?

Yeah, I know how to make those, but I doubt we'll be seeing any that I'd claim anytime soon :(

    Good point, though!

One thing I definitely Do Not Want is more animated things on a webpage. Senseless waste of compute cycles, slower page load and higher data rate, distracting, and sometimes annoying.

Given the propensity for kids  communicating by (almost) entirely emoticons these days  is it any wonder the average IQ levels are dropping :D:p

    (ps - there's no emoticon for /sarc)

Schools in my area first dropped teaching cursive handwriting years ago.
This year they stopped teaching penmanship of any kind completely.
EVERYTHING is done on a computer tablet in those schools.
    No writing or paper used.
Can you imagine what's going to happen to society if a solar flare or EMP pulse zaps us?
Few people will have any way to effectively communicate with each other.
....sure. It can't happen here, ....
    Spelling is for sissies.

...well, as long as there's someone (else) to blame, the kids of today will be just fine..........

Some of them don't even know how to read an analog clock. There is hope for the future in that eventually, none will know how to operate a firearm except using a game controller or mouse, so no more school shootings.
