Building a house and I am going to put the alarm system in myself.

Can anyone tell the locations to run the wires for this prewire job?
Locations in window frame, door frame....?

I will have steel external doors and aluminum insulated windows.

Thanks

Doors 6-10 inches on the top frame on the handle side.
Windows top left or right just below the window pane frame.
Double windows mount on opposite corners.

For wood framed doors I would use a 3/8 press fit recessed contact. On the
steel door, you will need a 7/8 or 3/4 mount magnet. This will ensure the
magnetic field will not be affected by the steel door.

For windows, don't use recessed contacts on the sill. This may become a
problem later on with water leaks, and it usually voids the warranty on the
window itself. Surface mount contacts with screw terminals is the way to go.
They are small and very unobtrusive.

doesn't matter.
Window Contact | | But try to keep it uniform
whenever possible.

These are just my recommendations. The type of windows you have may be a
factor on proper contact placement.

Jim: I did ask for the prewire locations. Thanks

However on a single hung window you mount the switch at the top of the
sliding part which is mid-window......right?

If this is so then your prewire recomendation would have a wire
running down to the switch. Right?
Could I drill the hole at the center division of the window and not
have wires showing?

Am I wrong on this?

Thanks,

Gus
