Hi guys,

Complete newbie to electronics (But keen to learn)

I am researching a possible project which requires 2x 140mm case fans (12v) like this one

Does anyone have any ideas about how to power the fans via the mains (UK)? Ideally, I'd like to build it myself, but i do understand that us newbies shouldn't be playing around with mains electricity.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

DR

I'd use any of the readily available 5-12V plug-in power supplies, aka wall-wart or adapter.

I don't suppose you could post a link to such adapter? (on eBay for example)

What, you don't have a box of about 50 of them you have accumulated over time? :)

Just been doing a little more research into it. Because my project needs to be fairly portable, I was thinking of using a small(ish) 12V battery. Something a bit like this.

My only concern would be how long it would last, and if those kind of batteries are okay with recharging.
