So i hooked up a kilowatt meter to my new soldering rework station I bought from ebay and found when it is under load that the power factor is a bit less than 0.5. I notice this most when the soldering iron is being used. I can see if happening when the heat gun is being used but I think it is using a PWM signal to heat it so it fluctuates between 1 and 0.5 often.
The model of the station is an Arksen 992D+ if anyone else is interested.

My question is, is it a good idea to calculate a capacitor to make this power factor closer to 1?
Is this not a good idea to do with transformers? Will I even get any benefit out of it?
