how are these made? Can I take the AM loop antenna, hook it up to the speaker
terminals on my power amplifier, and just take a cassette walkman, make sure
there's no tape in it and that the batteries are fresh, and push play and put
the tape player next the am antenna and turn up the volume on the amplifier?

(do not try this at home)

It needs a real transmitter and your headphones need a real receiver. What
you want to do will not work. A wireless headphones is very complex,
compared to your perception of it.

Take care to NOT hook anything up to your amplifier's output, other than
speakers that are of the correct impedance range for the amplifier's
specifications. If you mess with this, you may end up damaging the output
stage of the amplifier.

There are some low cost wireless headphones on the market. Do a search, and
you will find something. You may find it more worth while to just get a low
cost walkman type player.

Yes, you can do this exactly as you describe, but it would work better if you
would wire it in series-parallel with the telephone configuration you described
in a previous message.

You're gonna end up with distorted, noisy, inconsistant mono sound in the
best of circumstances...blown amp and/or no sound more likely. Wireless
headphones have come *way* down in price lately. Check Ebay....

Get real!

'Get real' as in: it's not true, or 'get real' as in: you would never shop
Ebay; or....

One vendor with whom I've had 'fair' luck's current offering:
chdesc=y&sid=22683616&store=Buy+Essex&colorid=12&fp=0&st=2>

I'm sure there's more...and these guys tend to charge way too much for
shipping; but even at that, less than $5 plus shipping would qualify as
'cheap;' wouldn't you say?

Or are you just trolling?

Many of the Emerson models went for $0.99 or did not sell at all...not the
greatest 'cans' to be sure, but preferable to what the OP was proposing,
unless he was just doing it as an experiment.

If you had read BOTH of the OP's posts you would have a better understanding of
his last post and mine. At least one of us is trolling and at least two people
felt the hook.

The original post is a troll.

There is one person, or maybe a number of people, who have something
against the alt.tv.game-show newsgroup, so for some months have
been cross-posting between it and various other newsgroups. It's
been bad enough in tv related newsgroups, but now they've found
sci.electronics.repair This is not the only thread posted this
way, there have been some other ones that are clearly nonsense.

All one has to do is check what newsgroups a message has
been posted to. If it's cross-posted to alt.tv.game-show
then it's best just to tune out. They have no interest
in an answer, indeed they aren't actually asking legit questions.

Essentially yes, although the shielding on the tape head may be a
problem.
I have made a successful system by running a loop of wire around the
room
(with a small series resistor for protection), and using one of those
telephone pick-up coils (the ones that you stick to the phone with a
suction cup for recording calls) feeding a high gain audio amp to
headphones.

It works supprisingly well, but of course is mono only and certainly
not hi-fi.

OUCH! My Lip! That's gonna leave a mark....

Any advice on how to remove barbed hook from human lip? I'm considering
pushing it all the way through after cutting off the shank. I'm concerned
that my diags will not be up to the task, or that they might leave a burr on
the cut end which will cause further injury as it's pulled through the
wound.

Maybe I should just leave it as a reminder?
