I am looking for a good book geared toward a technician that would
help cover grounding issues and their troubleshooting, Antennas and
radio reception (VHF), AC generators/inverters and lightning
protection. As I will be buying the book or books through an online
selller, I won't have the chance to check it out in person. Thanks in
advance for your recommendations.

Charlie Wing's book is a good one for electrical systems. The best I've
seen for SSB is a freebie available on ICOM's website. For charging
systems check out www.amplepower.com

I'll enthusiastically second Doug's suggestions,
particularly Charlie Wing's book.

Edgar J. Beyn's "The 12-volt doctor's practical handbook for the boat's
electrical system" is recommended reading.

I highly recommend the marine electrical and electronics bible, by John C.
Payne.
It covers all the subjects you mentioned; I learned a thing or two from it.
John even solved a problem for me by email, that had the company tech for
the device completely stumped.

Thanks all, for the advice. I wound up ordering the John Payne book,
"Motorboat Electrical & Electronics Manual", as it seemed the most
technically inclined of those I looked at .
