KrisBlueNZ Sadly passed away in 2015 Nov 28, 2011 8,393 Joined Nov 28, 2011 Messages 8,393 Jun 6, 2014 #2 It's a SOT-223 package. The stylised 'F' logo is Fairchild (http://www.fairchildsemi.com). The markings seem to be "DF45 A56" and I couldn't find those using SMT package top marking searches. It's most likely either a MOSFET - one of these: http://www.digikey.com/product-sear...1=1642&FV=fff40015,fff8007d,fffc002e,fffc0105 ... or a junction transistor - one of these: http://www.digikey.com/product-sear...1=3280&FV=fff40015,fff80078,fffc002e,fffc0105 It could be a linear regulator. Fairchild make at least five in that package: FAN1086, FAN1112, FAN1117, FAN1616, and RC1117, but the data sheets don't say what the top marks are. If you can tell us about the device it came from, and upload a picture of the board showing where it came from, we may be able to help further.
