I understand that MCLR is multiplexed and can be configured as a general
purpose I/O on the PIC12F629. I must be going blind... I can't see
anywhere in the data sheet that describes how to do this. I've been
looking for the MCLRE control bit in a SFR but can't seem to find it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
Simon.

It is not a register value that you can change 'in use'. It is in the
configuration fuses, that are set when programming the chip.
Look under the section 'special features of the CPU'. Bit 5 of the
'Config' configuration word, sets this option.

Best Wishes

Thanks for the help,
Simon.

Thanks for the help,
Simon.

Now that you've probably left, let me add that it's not an i/o pin
in that config, just an input. You'll see.

Yes, I did know. Just used I/O for convenience.
Thanks anyway,
Simon.
