20 years, Mikey? Time flies when you're having fun, eh. For me it's 28
years in the trade, 24 of them with a tool belt and 4 more without.

20 full-time years? No, not really. I incorporated in 1985 but had dabbled
previous in alarm as sole prop. Even after inc, it wasn't full time. I left
govt employ after 19 yrs... couldn't hack it any more. So, in last 5 yrs or
so turning on the afterburners full-time and making a go of it so far. If I
can get an SSR next lease, the universe will be unfolding as it should.

Hope it works out for you long term. If you're regularly adding RMR you'll
do very well.

I don't think I could stand working for the government 19 months -- forget
19 years.

Normal and usual to have a phase missing, a ground missing, 200mS spikes 10x
normal voltage. 120 volts could be anything from 85 volts to 135. All our
equipment had a constant voltage transformer on it. When power went off, it
could be for 5 minutes or for two days. As far as security goes, the biggest
threat was from the police. They came in with guns one night and made the
guard load all the computers on their truck. If a home was broken into,
people said they never called the police because the police would take
whatever was remaining as "evidence" of what wasn't stolen. Every home had
walls, fences, barbed wire. A friend of mine bought a fancy new red
sportscar. On the way back to the US at the end of the day, we were all in
bumper to bumper traffic, 2 miles an hour stop and go. The police pulled my
friend over and said, "You were speeding, give me $25". My friend said he
had only $20. The police took it. Mexico is still a third world country and
probably always will be.

The police pulled my friend over and said,
"You were speeding, give me $25". My

Mexico City, about 20 years ago: We were riding in a taxi (seven of us plus
the driver). Traffic was the usual bumper-to-bumper, 50 mph. We stopped
for a light and when it changed the driver started forward, apparently just
a second too soon. A police car signaled the taxi to pull over. The cabby
got out and walked back toward the police car, counting money in broad
daylight as he went. He handed a few bills to the cop, turned and walked
back to the cab. Then he proceeded as though nothing unusual had happened.
Mexico is still a third world country
and probably always will be.

Fast forward to Brazil in 2001. I was driving just under the speed limit
from Rio de Janeiro to Cabo Frio with my namorada when a pair of Policia
Militares pulled me over. Asked in my broken Portuguese why they pulled me
over they said they needed to search my vehicle. No problem, I don't carry
anything illegal so I figured this would only take a minute. Wrong!

Inside the trunk was my small backpack carrying several changes of clothes
and bathroom kit. The cop ordered me into the little building next to the
highway which they used as an office and searched the pack. Finding nothing
illegal, he ordered me to open my hygiene bag. Inside were toothbrush and
paste, floss, soap and shaving gear, etc., plus a month's supply of er...
protection. :^)

Spotting the rubbers, the cop shouted, Ooooh, camasinha Americana --
TROJAN -- muito bom!!! (Oh, American rubbers -- TROJAN -- very good). I
said, "Gosta?" (Do you like)? He said "Sim!" (Yes). I tore off six,
pressed them into his hand and said "Feliz Natal" (Merry Christmas) with a
big grin. It was November but he got the idea. He smiled and said,
"Obrigado. Bom voyagem" (Thanks. Have a good trip) and we were on our way.

Told of these events my Brazilian friends said this was all too typical.
The police in Brazil, like those in Mexico are grossly underpaid. Some
choose to supplement their income with theft, bribes, graft. Others are
just honest cops trying to get by on their meager wages. Because all it
cost me was some lost time and a couple of dollars I didn't mind very much.
It would have been a lot less amusing if they had found my money belt and
unburdened me of a few thousand dollars.

Down in Cabo a few years ago; while the wife and kids were shopping I took a few minutes to look at the inside wiring...it was easy it was exposed and hanging from the ceiling...followed it outside the rear door of the shop...where the "meter" was bypassed and looked like they had tapped onto the main feed on the pole by wrapping their own wire around the aerials. There wasn't a wall switch that had protective plates on them and some were even hanging out of the wall. Scary stuff.

No Robert, you have not offended me. I was in YOUR defense! I was
asking OTHERS to forgive. Look at the post again . . . Blythe

OK, thanks Blythe. The part that really cracks me up is that a bunch of
foul-mouthed, dishonest dealers (not you, of course) who have attacked me
numerous times without provocation for years have the chutzpah to think that
I need their forgiveness.

In particular it's galling that they pretend to be greatly offended over an
assault conviction more than a quarter of a century ago. I made a serious
mistake many years ago, paid dearly for it and have long since moved on. I
neither need nor seek their forgiveness as I've done nothing to harm them.
They, on the other hand, are in dire need of forgiveness, but that's another
story.

RLB

Robert. You've accused Norm of not "fessing up" to a mistake. You've been
living in Florida since 1999. This is 2005.

Mr. Bass

Since you have "long since moved on"...do you think the
family of the women you killed has "long since moved on"?
Your a sorry sack of shit, Basshole. If you, as you say,
"paid dearly for it", how much do you think that innocent
family paid for your killing thier family member. And, then you
have the gall to write "I neither need nor seek their forgiveness".

Better check that ticker of yours.....it may be looking for forgivness.

Are you saying Mr. Bass that they would have taken the money from you
that you probably stole from your customers by double billing credit cards
and
not shipping what your customers paid for......

Remember...You're the one with the BBB complaints.....
You're the one with the "Habitual Felony"
convictions......
You're the one that kills innocent people........

Nope. I moved here in April of 2000 but I went back to CT numerous times
and serviced accounts in preparation for the sale of the business. I hung
up the tool belt permanently a year and a half after I moved here.

Nice, professional response from the vice-chair of the Florida ECLB. Isn't
it nice that Google keeps a permanent record of these personal attacks
against a competitor. Some day if I have time and if I get sufficiently
annoyed perhaps I'll file suit against you, Mr. Mugford.

Keep right on posting... and pass the Hamentaschen.

Keep up the lies Mr. Bass.

You don't have the time or money to file suit.......
Or the balls........

You're just a fart in the wind Mr. Bass....
All air and no substance.

You don't have the balls Mr. Bass.
