Got this beast of TV sitting taking up loads of space, but think its a shame
to trow it away, because its not working properly. The fault description is as
follows:When Tv is left off for a week or so,the picture comes on nice and
bright, although somewhat blurred, especially when there is some text in the
image. This blurriness seems to be intermittent,i.e. it comes and goes
randomly. Was listening át the back of the telly, and there is a highpitch
sound which fluctuates up and down,in a similar random fashion as the
blurriness. After an hour or so the image starts getting feint, and the longer
the TV stays on the weaker it gets.If switching the tv off,and turning it on
again,still no improvement.The only solution is,leave it off for a week,and
you can watch for an hour again!Could this be the capacitors in the PSU
getting old?Where can you get them,or a kit?Have tried read the values
directly on the capacitors, but unfortunately most of them are soldered in,in
a way so they cant be read.Anyone with a schematic, with the values on the
caps?
Thankful for any guidance to solve this "beast",prefereably before
christmas:)) TIA Tom

Get an ESR meter and test ALL the caps in the set. I am sure that you will
find several dozen with high ESR. Replace them to start with. I have a
feeling that this one may not be worth the effort and cost to service.
