I replaced the motor on the Philishave HS990, and was having problems as the batteries were charged but the LCD display said 0 minutes left. So I tried to discharge the NimH with my battery charger. There was a bit of smoke near the diode and the battery terminal. Now the shaver will charge from a 9v battery and the minutes left increases (it works with low dc voltage as well). Now when I plug into the mains it doesn't charge and the TE1400 Philips IC gets warm.
I tested the diode, with the diode setting on my meter. I have tested the 2 capacitors and the small transformer conducts on the primary coil and secondary coil. The 4 pin diode (rectifier) seems to be ok as do the resistors.

Quite a complex chip...found data on a 1401 but none on the 1400...may be obsolete.

After a lot of searching I found the TE1400 data.
