Does anyone have any ideas on this? When I power on set, it gets to the
point where the raster shows but then cycles down. This repeats until
the set is powered down. Have checked for obvious bad components and
bad solder joints but since the set powers off, it is not possible to
    take any measurements.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  2. This is usually attributed from failing components in the power supply
    and or scan circuits.

In seeing how you presented the question, you would be best off to
send the set out to a service center. It takes proper training,
service tools, service information, and the proper setup to be able to
    service these sets.

If you can use a soldering iron, try replacing all the caps on the
high volage line (typically rated 160v or more) and power supply.
Don't forget to let the set stand for a few hours before staring, to
    discharge the caps fully.

If that doesn't solve it, get the set to a shop for a proper estimate
and visual inspection, the internet is not ideal to trouble shoot this
    type of thing.
