Hello

Does anybody know about an 8 bits microprocessor with PCMCIA interface
capabilities through hardware or software ?

I have to interface a PCMCIA Ethernet card with an electronic board using
microprocessors.

a special IC for PCMCIA interface would as well do the job.

Thanks

you need to have software for CIS handler. This is the Card Information
Structure responsible for the PnP mechanisms and correct addressing.
Never saw this without operating system and 8 bit micros.

For HW, the socket controllers are pretty complex and requiere low level
socket services and card specific services by SW. Many of that code is
resident in BIOS. The card bus interface HW is 68 pin and contains a data
for 32 bit busmaster running 33 Mhz synchron. One of the frequently used
card controllers is the PD 6729 by Basis Communications (now bought by
Intel) or Cirrus Logic. The other end of those controllers is normally
always PCI bus - good luck with a 8 bit micro....

You confirm what I supposed : reserved for high level OS system...
