    Hi ya!
There is an Hitachi SH3 EBX 7709 for sale in Ebay:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2547237610&category=4660

Its coming with loads of things including an LCD and a sound card
which got me thinking about a HiFi MP3 player.

Does any one know if this platform has enough processing power to run
    a software MP3 decoder.

If this platform is a little shy on the MIPS front, does an PC104 MP3
hardware decoder card exist? I`m thinking about a simple card with a
Macronis or ST MP3 decoder chip on it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Anna

    Anna,

Just about everyone and his dog has built an MP3 player in the last few
years. I suggest you find one of those rather than looking at processors
for which no operating systems exist.
