I got this set in with a shorted HOT. Power supply was singing. I
resoldered everything that looked suspicious and replaced the
transistor. The set came on and looked great for about a minute. Then
the new HOT shorted again. I felt the heat sink and it seemed quite
warm after the 1 min of running. Does anyone have any info on HOT
failures on this set? Thanks, Lenny Stein, Barlen Electronics

Where did you get the output? By far the biggest reason for blowing horiz outs
in Panasonics (that is if there are no other symptoms) is bad connections on
the horiz driver xfr and transistor. If you resoldered those, I'd bet your
subs are ng.

If the horiz driver circuit was soldered, and the sub is correct, you might
have a bad bypass cap on the primary side of the xfr, or a bad horiz drive
transistor or xfr. I'd bet real money the flyback is NOT the problem.
