My model is tx-32pk20f. It is about 4 years old.

I can only use the remote if it is less than 2ft from the tv, it works
perfect. futher away than that and i have hold the button down for
8-10 secs before i get a response.

I have ruled out the remote being the proble. i have 3 different
remotes that can control the tv and they all have simialr probs. (i
changed batteries on them all too).

The logical conclusion would be the tv ir receiver.
Has anyone heard of this problem.

Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks Vic.

If you verified that the fault is in the set by using another remote, it is
possible that the IR receiver in the set is weak, or the supply to it is not
correct, or there is an amplitude loss along the path between the IR
receiver output and its destination at the processor circuits.

You will have to have the means to verify all of the above. If you are not
trained in this type of service, and not equipped to do so, I would suggest
to send the set out for a proper estimate to have it serviced, or just use
it the way it is.

Agreed, can be the ir receiver, or circuitry between it and the micro, or
even something as simple as using other ir devices in the same room, such as
florescent lamps, etc. As stated, if you are not sure or not qualified to
repair the tele have is professionally serviced.
