I just purchased a panasonic HDTV projection tv # pt-53wx53. My
question is when I watch some channels, Like ABC NBC CBS, sports
channels my picture seems really grainy. Ive tried to adjust my
settings and either its not working or Im not sure what Im doing ( I
know the latter part is true). I have dish network and Im running
that into my video 1 port on my tv. Im not sure if the signal is not
in HDTV mode it will be like that or not? Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

Many of the stations are sending analog signals to the satellite uplink
people. The only thing that you are getting in digital is the carrying of
the signal. The contents are mostly analog from many of the stations, and
are not even delivered in digital format to the satellite uplink people.
Very few programs are made in HDTV format, and therefore most of what you
are watching will be in the old 4:3 analog format to begin with.

You cannot make a digital HDTV, or standard digital noise free picture from
something that is not of that in the first place! Your set, and or the
satellite box can do some conversion to make compatibility only, if the
signal is not of the proper format for your set. When conversions take
place there are also added losses to the quality.
