Panasonic CT-32HX42 known problem?

My Panasonic CT-32HX42 TV (manufactured Dec 02) has a strange problem,
I wonder if it's a firmware glitch or a real known problem?

For some reason, when the TV is in VIDEO 1, power is first turned on,
and then TV/VIDEO on the remote is pressed twice in rapid succession,
the degauss coil will activate, a relay will click, and the power LED
will shut off. The TV then no longer responds to the remote or front
panel buttons. It's completely dead until I unplug and replug its
power cord.

It's very strange. My wife can reproduce it... I guess my timing is
off, because I have never been able to reproduce it. My wife can't
reproduce it if the TV was left in tuner mode, and sometimes it
doesn't do it.

I've told her to wait till AFTER the first relay click before pressing
the TV/VIDEO button and it's been fine. This TV weighs 135 lbs and is
wedged in an entertainment center, so it's not worth even having it
looked at under warranty if it only does it under that specific
condition. I'm just curious if it's a known problem, and if so,
what's the fix?

I'm getting a similar problem, except unplugging and replugging just
gets me back to the original cause, the degauss coil activates and the
tv shuts down. Then it's completely dead until I do the unplugging and
replugging again. ANY help would be appreciated.

Best guess is that you have a shutdown problem. Capacitors are used to keep
the shutdown mode from activating untill the set has stabilized after
turnon. Shutdown looks at HV, overcurrent and undervoltage in several
circuits. Activating the TV/Video so soon after turning on the set MAY
cause shutdown to activate. The engineers may have chosed a value for one
of those circuits that's not super idiot proof. (No offence to your wife)

Your problem is shutdown, you need to call for service.
