Painting glass-breaks?

I want to use the Sentrol 5820 flush-mount glass breaks, in a dark-finished
area. Think they'll take paint? I'm thinking about pulling out the
electronics and shooting it....

Don't see why not... The case doesn't do anything... the microphone does.

I wouldn't shoot 'em. Tape them off, then paint the housing so no paint
gets in
the mic. hole (or LED's). I was working in a very rich neighborhood in
Houston
recently. The painters matched the smokes, GB's, and PIR's to match every
room
(with texture). I had a hard time finding some of the devices, the paint
concealed them nicely. I did have to replace an ESL 449 that was
malfunctioning
- but the paint job was so good on the old one I just replaced the board
and
chamber.

Most fire detection devices clearly state "Do Not Paint"...

I think "most" usually means heat detectors, and actually it means the heat
collector disk/surface of the device. Painting may alter the temperature
conductivity or transfer characteristics thereby altering the function of
the device.

Painting a smoke detector changes the size of the apertures through which
passes for sampling...changing the function of the device.

Actually, ALL smoke detectors say; Do Not Paint....and it kinda means just that.

GB's are a different story, I've painted them, but wouldn't allow the painters to do it...I personally take on that job...same with PIR's if I have to "make them pretty" for inferior decorators.
