  1. Is there anywhere that anybody knows of with a list of component packages
    with pictures? I'm looking through the digikey catalog and getting all
    confused and lost when trying to pick components, as it'd be rather nice to
    know what I'm getting looks like.

    I mean the little numbers such as TO-220 and SOT-223.

    Just note the manufacturer's name, look up their web site, and
    download the data sheets. Nearly all data sheets have package
    drawings. Most also have application notes, which will help you
    understand how to apply the parts.
