Hello All! I have a problem I hope I can get help for. I'm a newbie to electronics but a quick learner. I am repairing an ozone air cleaner for a friend and I replaced the corroding pots for news one w on/off.
They seem to work fine and I am able to turn the ozoner and fan off ( shared pot on the right) whereas before it couldn't. The problem is that the ozone intensity control ( left sided pot) doesn't seem to be kicking in Even though the pot is new there must be some other component that has control of the ozone intensity. Can alone help me toubleshoot?

    Welcome to EP.
    Maybe we can help.

Do you have a service manual or schematics of the unit?
Some photos could help as well.

    Well,
    Now you did post.

The soldering quality of the pots is very poor.
Look here and learn how to.
Take your time learning, soldering quality is critical for repair.

What is the brand and model name of your unit?

There is no inductor on board to create the arc for the ozone.

THe board seems to missing a lot of essential parts.

I don't know what was connected to the yellow cublike items. I didn't touch anything except changing out the 2 pots. Before they had one regular pot and one with o/off. I switched them out for 2 new pots with o/off. Everything was fine except the control over the ozone amount generated does not change as it should. I include a pic of the rest of the air cleaner for your clarification.

The yellow Mylar insulation tape is on the stepup HV transformer.

No idea how the pot is connected , both appear to be 500k

yes the new pots are inserted the same way the old 500k were. The only difference was lack of ozone control. I wondered is that resistor on top of the one pot on your left would be instrumental in the ozone control as well. Or as a possability to offer less ozone could I safely just eliminate one plate from the setup? The lady that uses this machine does so improperly so I'd like to either have a constant reduce ozone amount or have it adjustable as it usually was.
