Over heated technics sa-g90

My Technics reciever model sa-g90 gets very hot above the heat sink until the volume is turned up, then the fan comes on.

I understand a lot of Technics reciever run hot, but on the top of the reciever above the heat sink you can barely hold you hand on it. This happens at lower volumes when the exhaust fan is not running. Comes on with higher volume levels.

A friend of mine works in electronic repairs. He said this type of heat can fry some components and shorted life of others.

Some components, and the way they are designed/operated, simply dissipate heat..... providing that heat is within the design parameters of the equipment - which you STILL haven't revealed - then it's not a problem.

It's 'inefficient'..... but that's about it. You 'may' have an issue with incorrectly set bias but until you confirm the actual system parameters and/or show a schematic, we'll never know.
