Outdoor IR Cameras in Housings?

I would like to put Outdoor IR cameras inside metal housing but was told the
IR Leds will reflect off the glass in the housing. The cameras are designed
to mount stand alone. Is there anyway to set these up without removing the
glass in the housings? They are being used in a very crime ridden area and
the highest they can be mounted under eve is around 14 feet off the ground.
Thank you
Dave

The problem is that some light will be reflected back and the camera will
just see the inside of the glass lens. Just like standing inside your house
at night and looking out. You just see a reflection.

HOWEVER there are some package cameras built that eliminate this problem by
having a rubber boot/gasket around that lens of the camera that rests flat
against the inside of the glass.

I have used domes built this way. With domes its difficult to get
everything adjusted and positioned correctly, but it can be done. Just
takes times. There are also some complete packaged cameras and illuminators
with a fixed focus that handle this nicely.

I originally ran across this problem many years ago when trying to video
tape out a window. A piece of cardboard around the lens to block the
reflection did the trick.

Thank you for the suggestion. These cameras have a gasket around the lens
preventing surounding IR lights around it from reflecting back into it. I'll
experiment with a gasket between the housing glass and the camera to see if
this works.

The camera worked in the outdoor enclosures after installing a 1/4" long
round plasic cylinder wrapped with black tape around the lens preventing IR
reflections. Lens cleaning in the future may prove to be difficult.
