I have an Optima XM6 alarm system installed and has been working without any
trouble for the last 6 years until recently when the internal sounder has
gone off and the Tamper light has come on.I have eliminated the Tamper
circuit as being the problem by linking it out, so could the problem be a
failing back-up battery.
Thanks in advance for any help
Simmo.

No, sounds like the tamper circuit, battery failing on the optima is a
bleeping sound ever few min or keypad locking up.

It's worth checking all tamper circuits. both detector global, and bell
tamper. If this doesn't solve the problem it will be the on board tamper or
a PCB fault. Did the problem arise after the storms.

Trouble started during the hot weather before the storms, but as yet I
haven't checked the bell tamper.Maybe the bell box has moved a bit?

Before you rip the bell off the wall, try putting a link from the negative
hold off to the tamper return in the main panel and see if that cures the
problem.

I did get stuck on a roof once when the wind blew my ladder over. Maybe he
is sat on the peak holding tightly to the chimney! Hope he is alright.
