I've been looking at Keithley application notes for the Franck-Hertz
experiment. Some of them show voltage sources that seem to be opposing
each other. I don't know much about stuff like that, but I'm under the
impression that one doesn't really want to have voltage sources opposing
each other (i.e. with opposite polarities) in a circuit. Can someone
    please address that point?
