Hello, I am wanting to adapt the attached circuit to one that uses an op-amp rather than the transistor indicated.
Apart from replacing the transistor with an op-amp, I am unsure of what other changes need to be made.
Can someone please help me out here. I am an electronics newbie.

    Thanks kindly for any assistance.
(this circuit is simply to amplify an electret mic, to provide an output suitable for a Picaxe microncontroller to process.)

The purpose of the given circuit is to generate a negative signal edge to ground in order to trigger a 555 monostable from sound pickup by the microphone. In what way do you expect that function to be improved by an op amp?
