I thought I would tell the group of some problems that I had with northern
computer. At this time northern does not have an operable system using
winpac 2.0 on windows xp service pack 2. They admit to the problem and say
a fix is in the works. Notice they haven't emailed any warning that there
is a problem to the dealer base. That was 2 months ago. The problem of when
I first encountered this major problem was when a customers hard drive
failed. I went to the local computer store and bought a full version of XP
pro (customers IT dept. lost original copy of xp) The copy had xp pro
service pack 2. It won't work with winpac. So pray that if you have any
customers out there with a northern system installed that the harddrive
doesn't fail. Otherwise you will have to buy an earlier version someplace.
It doesn't seem that Northern is going to get their act together any time
soon.

It's pretty easy to avoid this problem... Ensure your customer's computers
that are running the software are also running Windows 98SE.

There are still some small OEMs that are producing legal serial numbers for
and copies of 98SE.

or...if you stay away from it entirely, you won't be exposed to the POS it
is, was, has been, and always will be. Northern is JUNK, period.
