The LT3436 datasheet is filled with detailed schematics.
Blowing up the figure on the last page by 1200% for examination, the
200dpi png version is badly pixelated, but the pdf postscript-vector
version is still perfect, with round transformer-winding loops, etc.

It's great when you can preserve the vector graphics.
Why make PowerPoint files when you can show superior Acrobat files in
full-screen mode, advancing from page to page just like powerpoint?

When your only tool is a hammer...

http://www.norvig.com/Gettysburg/ for example.

Active8's info is within the message <[email protected]> at
location sci.electronics.design:

I get 111 pages to pdf *and* print preview with pdf995 and MSOE,
respectively.

When I print to a file with MSOE, I can only save as a .prn file
which XP doesn't associate with any apps I have. I think you're
supposed to be able to send it to a printer, but I can't remember
what I read about that.

If your printer *isn't USB*:

Open a command prompt and type

COPY file.prn > lpt1:

If this don't work try

COPY /B file.prn > lpt1:

If your printer is on a network, you need 'NET USE' (AFAIK) to link it to a
parallel port name.

If your printer is USB, you're probably out of luck.

[]s

Ok, thanks. Haven't used NET USE since the last time I tried
connecting XP to Samba - an excersize in futility, IME.

On a network you just "share" the printer. On the machine where the
printer is located you set "Share as" and give the printer a name.

On your local machine you "install" a printer (and its software), but
designate where it's located, and its name.

Then it's just as simple as printing to a local printer.

...Jim Thompson

That's easy on a winders system. I was talking about connecting to a
Linux file server via Samba. You "Map Network Drive" and supply a
logon, but XP f's it up so bad I still haven't connected.

F' it. I'm sorting out my mail and news on the HD so I can Devo
(music group naee meaning or de-evolve) back to w2k.

And howcome you can't fine "file-save as" in OE?

I'm not talking about printers (though you can share a Linux box
printer via Samba, also.) Google Linux Samba. Look for all the bs on
using it with XP, too.

Bacause OE is a POS. Do a view source on the link and look at all
the bs that fucks up the images src html.

Is that some kind of net-nanny thing?

No. Some people have ways of obscuring the image src html so it
can't be saved. The link in my OP was done in Word and saved as html
and it's so fucked up that *my* OE can't save the images, but those
browsers that ignare that MS BS, just see the standard img src html
and it works ok for them.

It's the old non W3C compliant browser BS.
I've had OE tell me it won't
download certain image files because they "might contain viruses" or
some such.

That's a new one on me.
Let's face it - Windows software sucks.

The biggest understatement since the beginning of time.
I have been able to fix the problem however - I've installed Linux. :)

And as soon as I get this reader and my mail ready, 2 XP partitions
get formatted, w2k goes back on, with room for Linux maybe and if
I'm lucky, that POS Compaq box I was given will be *all* Linux.

Then I can connect both machines via Samba to the old Linux box.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I intended to just show the file sizes.
I didn't say anything about printing, because I haven't set up my printer
yet. The one network printer I did set up has its own IP, so to the
Windoze boxes, it's just a printer at an IP - I didn't have to mess with
printing through samba or cups or lpd or anything.

Sharing a windoze printer via a samba server, I haven't tried yet. But
it sounds like it's not that hard, if you've mastered samba and printing.
;-)

Thanks,
Rich

Also, I didn't know WTF you were on about with that "I can't do it

folder, not every file. It tells you the size of the contents of the
folder AKA directory or rather, vice versa. Compuserve jargon aside,
"folder" is a teletubbian term.

Aside from XP being a bitch with Samba, Samba is pretty easy. Worked
great with w2k. I even went as far as buying a book on it and it
covers printer sharing.

Now printers with IP addys are the way to go, IMO. You just need a
printer with an ethernet module. No Samba involved. If you can do it
without the eth module, I don't know how. But that would involve
more software/daemon/whatever.

What I meant was I don't have to right-click every file's icon and ask
for its properties - in Linux, the ls command tells me the size of every
file:
What was the total size of the page and images - right clk the
directory and select properties.

This means that the file 'notes1_m_2000.html' is 935,064 bytes long.

Yes, this is just a directory, but I haven't bothered to look up exactly
what the "size" indicates here.

And here are some image sizes. image002.gif is 3352 bytes, and so on.

Isn't that what people were asking for?

But anyway, I think people were also talking about right-clicking an image,
and not getting the save-as popup - that's done with some evil scripting
language from hell. Maybe you could disable javascript.

Good Luck!

It's a bitch because you print an html file to the pdf995
driver, but at least in the case of using MSOE, you get the
html file page number and the URL printed on every page and
you can't actually open a PDF file and edit it.

MSIE | File | Page Setup | Headers & Footers,
setup as required (including completely blank if you want).

Oh cool. I guess that's a better place for it than prefs.

I'm glad I've gone this long without it though because I'm now
pissed off enough to try another browser again. MSIE saves pages
under the page title unless you change it so I end up with these
*HUGE* filenames that CDs can't handle. If you let the burner SW
change it, you now have brocken links to the saved images.

Bacause OE is a POS. Do a view source on the link and look at all
the bs that fucks up the images src html.

Get rid of OE.

Use either Mozilla (open-source), Opera M2 (adware, part of the Opera browser)
or The Bat! (shareware) for mail.

I've used Mozilla and Opera M2 for a while and it is very good.

But now I changed my ISP, and this one don't give me decent POP3 so...

I am in the process to try to forget IE here. (already have Mozilla Firefox up
and almost 100% working).

Firefox looks good. Does it save the whole page or do you have to
save every image like the old NS4?

I have not tried it, but it saves all the page, AFAIK. If it doesn't, there is
an extension called SpiderZilla that does.
