New (well back into) the game

I am into scale model railroads and a while ago (I will not specify how long ago...) I constructed a circuit that I wish to construct again, but this time build it using up-to-date components. My experiences with electronics has wained a while afterward - college and life in general. My activity/ interest into model railroads is starting to go dormant...... and I believe this will help me correct my course... I will go more into depth later; just my intro to the group.
